We Are Still and Time Moves through Us

The Austrian arts collective, Zeitschleife, invited me to participate in an interdisciplinary performance project combining contemporary composition, figure skating, literature, and live electronics. We held the first “performance laboratory” of the potentially multi-year project in Graz in March 2026. “We Are Still and Time Moves through Us” uses seven original poems I wrote as the basis for sound compositions that are performed live to recorded tracks while skaters embody, react to, and control the soundscape using motion trackers.

The artists in this project are: Composers Alyssa Aska (USA/AUT), Pablo Mariña (MEX/AUT), Martin Ritter (AUT); singer Helēna Sorokina (LAT/AUT); professional skaters Moé Okuda (USA/JPN) Matej Silecky (USA/UKR), skaters from Eissport Club Graz Lilia Reichenauer, Antonia Parzmaier, Tina Meitz, Vala Aska-Ritter, Freya Aska, Alyssa Aska; choreography Stina Martini (AUT); recording and sound engineering Benedikt Alphart (AUT); software and hardware Martin Ritter (AUT) and Jeffrey E. Boyd (CAN).

I offered this workshop on poet + composer collaborations in Graz on March 5, 2026 using poems from this project as examples. The poems stem from the “immersive” durational project Until The Book Faints about a book I’ve kept underwater since 2020.
