Launch of Rachel Rose’s Marry or Burn

Real Vancouver Writers’ Series, Launch of Rachel Rose’s Marry or Burn. I am thrilled about this because Raoul Fernandes (Transmitter and Receiver) and Renée Sarojini Saklikar (Children of Air India) and I were all at The Writer’s Studio at SFU when Rachel Rose was the poetry mentor.

Reading at Strangers on a Train

Strangers on a Train is a monthly reading series, hosted by the Langara College English department, devoted to creating dialogue between writers and writing groups that would not typically interact with one another. Each event features writers from a variety of genres and backgrounds: from spoken word to highbrow prose – the up-and-coming, the student, and the venerable. The goal of the series is to encourage discussion and promote collaboration within Vancouver’s diverse literary community (or with members of other Canadian literary communities). All events are free to attend and are open to the public (19+).

The Exiles’ Gallery book launch

I will join a group of Elise Partridge‘s friends in launching her third book, The Exiles’ Gallery. Elise passed away in January and her book, published by House of Anansi, is beautiful. I’ll be reading one of her poems with Aislinn Hunter, Miranda Pearson, Rob Taylor, Caroline Adderson and others.

Verses Festival

With Thursdays Writing Collective at Verses Festival at Havana Gallery on Commercial Drive, Vancouver. We read selections from Voice to Voice, our (forthcoming) seventh anthology!

Honey Hives and Poetry in the City

I will be reading with Vancouver Poet Laureate Rachel Rose, Renee Sarojini Saklikar, Mark Winston, Patrick Foley and Anita Lo at Honey, Hives and Poetry in the City. This event is part of National Poetry Month and supported by the League of Canadian Poets. Join us on Monday at 7pm in the Vancouver Public Library’s Alice McKay room for readings about food and bees – event includes a honey tasting!
