Several times I have had the opportunity to collaborate with professional choreographer and figure skater (and sister) Elin Schran. Elin has set serpentine loop as a skating program and has performed iterations of it in Dorchester, MA, Portsmouth, NH, and Vancouver, BC.
Elin Schran is the founder of JoySkate Productions (https://joyskateproductions.com/) and the inventor of IceFlow (a yoga-inspired skating class for all abilities). She co-founded the Boston-based Frozen Frog Productions and skated in many shows, including Ice Capades. She taught for five years at Dorothy Hamill’s Fantasy Skating Camp and teaches at rinks and skating camps around the US. She is the founder of Be Here, Be You, an LGBTQ2S skating event and runs The Experience, a week-long skating camp, with Randy Gardner. She is active in efforts to increase accessibility and diversity in skating.
On March 24, 2017 she performs the Canadian debut at Hillcrest Community Centre Rink.
At this event she reprises a section of our Portsmouth event with Douglas Webster. Doug, a phenom in the world of ice dance choreography, is going to demonstrate edges with Elin. Doug’s expertise and energy are high-level.
He co-founded the internationally-recognized Ice Dance International in 2014 to create classical and contemporary ice ballet with a professional company. Currently, Douglas is the Creative Director for Shall We Dance on Ice, an ABC TV special that features ice dancing and ballroom. He has worked with Disney on Ice, Holiday on Ice, Stars On Ice, The Sun Valley Ice Show and served as the Artistic Director of Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) as well as their Associate Artistic Director, Resident Choreographer and Ensemble Director. He is on the staff of Grassroots to Champions and on the boards of the Young Artists Showcase and The Dance Hall in his hometown of Kittery, Maine.
