On December 16, 2015 I was guest on Coop Radio’s show hosted by Charles Boylan. Kevin Spenst read some poems and began a discussion about the role of poetry in social justice and the social power of poetry. Rita Wong joined in and read some work from her new book, undercurrent.

I read a few verses from John Asfour‘s translation of Syrian poet Faraj Bayrakdar’s book Mirrors of Absence in recognition of the arrival of the first refugees to our province this week. I also read a few poems about PTSD and the aftermath of war, which will appear in Serpentine Loop this spring.

I come on around 7:40pm but I urge you to listen to Kevin and Rita – it’s a rare chance to get at the “why poetry” question. Thanks Kevin, Charles and Rita!
